MEET JULES & NEMO
Jules and I met in 2020 when we boarded our horses at the same barn. Little did we know, our love of horses would create lifetime friendship that could never be broken.
​​Jules's horse Bello was the goofiest of all chestnut Thoroughbreds and lit a fire in her that no one could deny. He was her heart horse and quickly became Bodie's and my best friend. When Bello passed away from a tragic accident in 2022, it devastated all of us. After spending a year without a horse, Jules knew she wanted to honor his memory with another Thoroughbred and enter the Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover. In this program, trainers select an off the track Thoroughbred who has recently retired from racing to train and compete in a challenge in Kentucky in October. After careful selection, Jules came across another chestnut gelding named Nemo (JC name Too Much Crown).
Nemo has been a diamond in the rough with the most kind and willing personality. He is quiet-minded and always ready to poor his heart into anything Jules asks of him. However, Jules and Nemo have encountered several set-backs along the way. When they discovered Nemo had a severe case of kissing spine, Jules and her vet determined surgery was the best course of action. The surgery went remarkably well and upon returning to the barn for his post-surgical physical therapy, he injured his stifle and ended up back at the vet. Little Nemo was determined to recover better than ever, and that he did! He is now back in the full swing of training in flatwork, tricks, and even cross-country jumping. They even travelled to their first show where Nemo performed as if he had been born to compete and came home with several ribbons!​
